Turmeric is a must have spice for cooking Indian foods. Turmeric powder or “Haldi” is the powder which is yellow in colour and comes from the Turmeric plant. Shades of yellow depend on the amount of curcumin. More the curcumin, darker will be the color. Because of curcumin, turmeric powder has excellent anti-bacterial, anti-septic and anti-oxidant properties in it. Turmeric powder is used in almost all the dishes that are cooked in India. Haldi Doodh or Turmeric Milk has been used in India for centuries for many health benefits. I remember when my husband got sick about 7 years ago, we went to a naturopath (Russian). She suggested my husband to have turmeric in his meals to heal him from inside. Not only this, turmeric’s topical application (along with some other ingredients) on face and body is excellent for getting a clear and healthy complexion.
